Who's behind it
I'm Steven Lamont, based in Scotland. I'm Technical Director at a lateral flow contract services company, and I've spent 20 years developing and testing lateral flow diagnostics.
WellSpotted is my own independent project, separate from my day job.
Why WellSpotted
Lab work runs on small calculations: buffers, dilution series, master mixes, cell seeding, standard curves. None of them is hard, but they come up every day, they often live in scattered spreadsheets, and a slip can cost a day's work.
WellSpotted puts them in one place. The tools are quick to use on a phone at the bench, show their working so you can check the arithmetic, and are tested before every release.
What's next
The calculators are free and will stay free. Next up are WellSpotted Pro, with extra curve-fitting tools for regular users, and a Notion lab management template for experiments, projects, materials and purchase orders.
